‘You can ask Kangana Ranaut…’, former MP Simranjit Singh gave a controversial statement on the rape allegation

Former Punjab MP and Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) leader Simranjit Singh Mann on Thursday made controversial remarks against MP Kangana Ranaut, which has created a stir in political circles. Mann’s remarks come days after Kangana Ranaut alleged that “rapes” took place during the farmers’ protest.

Simranjit Singh Mann said, “You can ask Kangana Ranaut how rape happens so that people can be explained how rape happens. She has a lot of experience in this.” Mann made this comment while reacting to the recent comments made by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on the farmers’ protest.

Recently, the MP from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh had said in an interview that if India’s leadership was not strong, the farmers’ protests could have turned into a Bangladesh-like crisis in the country. Kangana Ranaut had also alleged that “corpses were hanging” and “rapes” were taking place during the farmers’ protests, which lasted for almost a year. She also accused China and the US of being involved in a “conspiracy”.

The neighbouring country recently witnessed widespread violence and student protests over the controversial quota system for government jobs, in which more than 500 people were killed. This violence ended with the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government.

Kangana Ranaut’s statements were strongly criticized by the opposition, while the BJP distanced itself from her statements. The BJP said that Kangana Ranaut did not have the permission or authority to comment on party policy matters.

In an exclusive interview on Wednesday, Kangana Ranaut said she was reprimanded by the party leadership for her comments and will be more careful about her choice of words in future. “I was reprimanded by the party leadership and that is fine with me. I don’t think I am the final voice of the party. I am not crazy or stupid enough to believe that,” she said.
