Yogi government will no longer lease out Nazul land, important bill passed in the assembly

The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh will no longer lease Nazul land to anyone. Apart from this, after the lease period expires, the lessee will be evicted and the Nazul land will be taken back. In this regard, the Uttar Pradesh Nazul Property (Management and Use for Public Purposes) Bill-2024 was passed in the Assembly amid heavy opposition.

This bill was opposed by 2 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs and CM Yogi’s supporter Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya, apart from this, Samajwadi Party (SP) MLAs came to the well and opposed this bill and called it anti-people.

Ignoring all the opposition, the Yogi government passed this bill in the assembly on the strength of its majority. The Uttar Pradesh Nazul Property (Management and Use for Public Purposes) Bill-2024 was introduced in the House on Monday. Since then, there was a debate between the government and the opposition regarding this bill in the monsoon session of the House.

On Wednesday, this bill of the Yogi government was opposed by BJP MLA Siddharth Nath Singh and Harsh Vardhan Bajpai from Pratapgarh. These MLAs said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving housing to the people and you are bringing this bill to make people homeless. Similarly, Jansatta Dal Loktantrik Party chief and MLA from Kunda assembly seat Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya opposed this bill and said that the officials have given wrong feedback to the government regarding Nazul land.

The opposition demanded that the government send this bill to the Select Committee, but it was rejected during the voting on the bill. Many opposition MLAs sat on a dharna in the House in protest against this bill.

Congress MLA Aradhana Mishra also demanded withdrawal of the bill, but the government ignored everyone’s opposition and passed it in the House on the basis of numbers.
