Yogesh Kathuniya Paris Paralympics 2024: India gets eighth medal in Paris Paralympics, Yogesh Kathuniya wins silver in discus throw

Today (September 2) is the fifth day of Paris Paralympics 2024. Indian para athletes are participating in many sports on the fifth day of these games. Today Yogesh Kathunia won the silver medal for India by performing brilliantly in the Men’s Discus Throw F56 event. Yogesh has won silver in the second consecutive Paralympics. Earlier, Yogesh had also won silver in the Tokyo Paralympics.

27-year-old Yogesh threw 42.22 meters in his first attempt, which was his best attempt. Brazil’s Batista dos Santos Claudni won the gold medal in this event. Batista achieved this feat with a best throw of 46.86. This throw of Batista was the best throw of this event in the history of Paralympic Games. On the other hand, Greece’s Tzonis Constantinos won the bronze medal with a best throw of 41.32 meters.

India’s medal tally rises to 8

India’s medal tally at the Paris Paralympics has now reached eight. India has so far won one gold, three silver and four bronze medals. First, Avani Lekhara won the gold medal in the R2 Women’s 10m Air Rifle (SH1) event on Friday (30 August). Avani won the gold medal with a Paralympic record. India’s Mona Agarwal won the bronze medal in the same event.

Then Preeti Pal got the third medal for India in the Paris Paralympics. She won the bronze medal in the Women’s 100 meter race (T35). After this, on August 30, shooter Manish Narwal got the fourth medal for India. He won the silver medal in the Men’s 10 meter air pistol (SH1). On the third day of Paris Paralympics 2024 i.e. on August 31, women shooter Rubina Francis got the fifth medal. It was a bronze medal.

After this, Rubina Francis won the bronze medal in Women’s 10 meter air pistol (SH1). She scored 211.1 points in the final. Then on August 1, Preeti Pal won bronze in Women’s 200 meter race (T35) and Nishad Kumar won silver medal in Men’s High Jump (T47). Now Yogesh performed brilliantly and won the silver medal.
