Years ago Kangana called herself a ‘drug addict’, now she denied it and said – it was acting

Kangana Ranaut is busy promoting her film ‘Emergency’. Meanwhile, she has to get rid of her controversial statements of the past. Kangana Ranaut, who has also entered politics along with acting, was questioned about one of her old statements. In the year 2020, the actress had described herself as a ‘star and drug addict’. In such a situation, when Kangana was questioned about this during an interview, she denied the statement.

In that video, Kangana Ranaut talked about leaving home as a teenager and the difficulties she faced. She told how she started using drugs due to the change in lifestyle. However, in an interview with Lallantop, she denied this statement. The actress called it method acting.

Did Kangana not use drugs?

She said, ‘When you are in a protective environment, everything seems safe. But when you leave the comfort of your family and go out, you get to experience different things. I was young and wanted to live life freely. Any new experience, whether it was scary, tempting, beautiful or dark, attracted me. But this does not mean that I became an addict.’

Kangana said that these experiences were about understanding the characters she played on screen, and not about using drugs. Kangana gave the example of her characters in the films ‘Gangster’, ‘Woh Lamhe’ and ‘Fashion’, who were struggling with drug addiction, mental health issues and alcohol addiction. The actress said, ‘I was experimenting with method acting. I wanted to understand the depth of those characters. And yes, that means understanding how they feel. But all this was part of the process. It was not related to my real life.’

Kangana Ranaut told that she used to get distracted seeing people smoking on the sets of the film. She said, ‘Because you are young, you are very open-minded. If you see today’s Kangana and her thoughts, you think that she can achieve things like the old Kangana. I don’t think so. That quality is no longer in me. I don’t have the innocence of a 16-year-old girl. I have become mature now. I know the difference between right and wrong. Now if I know that a rave party is going on, I will not go there. But young Kangana does not do that.’

She further said, ‘I was scared then. And as a teenager, drugs used to tempt me. I played the role of a model in fashion. She was lying on the streets. I wanted to understand what happens to a drug addict when he doesn’t do drugs, how he feels. I had to show those feelings on screen, so I experimented with things.’ In such a situation, the actress was asked if she experimented with all kinds of drugs. To this Kangana replied, ‘I did not experiment with any drug. I did my research. Met people. Talked to them.’

Why are you focusing on this?

After this, Kangana asked why her achievements are not being noticed. She said, ‘Why are you focusing on whether I did drugs or not. Why don’t you focus on the fact that a 15-year-old girl, who left her home, who had a lot of money and fame, did not become an alcoholic, drug addict, item girl and high society call girl. She did not become many of the things that the world wanted her to be. She became what I am today.’

The actress said this in the video

Talking about Kangana Ranaut’s old video, it is still available on her social media account. In this, she said, ‘This time is not a bad time. Don’t think about it like that. Bad times are actually good times. Friends, I was 15 or 16 years old when I ran away from my house. I used to think that I could catch the stars by extending my hands. I left my house and within one and a half to two years, I became a star and a drug addict. My life was so bad. I was with such people from whom only death could save me. All this happened to me when I was just a teenager.’
