The re-exams were held in two shifts on five days – 23, 24, 25 August, 30 and 31 August. According to the official statement, out of about 48 lakh candidates, more than 32 lakh appeared in the exam. It is believed that more than 16 lakh candidates left the exam due to strict security arrangements.

These were strict arrangements for security in the exam
According to an official statement released on Saturday evening, the exam centres in UPPRPB and adjoining areas, which were earlier accused of paper leak, had high level security this time and Aadhaar verification was done for all the candidates. Apart from this, 16,440 examination rooms in 1,174 centres in the state were equipped with CCTVs and monitored by artificial intelligence, while 2,300 magistrates and about two lakh (1,97,859) policemen were deployed. The exam was held exclusively in government schools to ensure fairness.

The Uttar Pradesh police maintained a vigilant watch on various platforms, including WhatsApp and social media, while intelligence agencies were on a 24-hour alert to anticipate any potential issues. Apart from strict monitoring, the board conducted Aadhaar verification for candidates before the exam. While Aadhaar details of 85 per cent of the candidates were verified, the remaining 15 per cent had to undergo eKYC verification at the exam centres.
