“Working at Tesla is not for the faint hearted”, VP resigns from Elon Musk’s company

The world’s richest man Elond Musk’s company Tesla is once again in the headlines. Now Tesla’s Vice President (Finance and Business Operations) Sreela Venkataratnam has resigned from her post. Venkataratnam had been working with Tesla for the last 11 years and she was one of only two female Vice Presidents (VP) in the company.

Srila Venkatratnam praised Tesla in a LinkedIn post announcing her resignation, but commented below that working there was “not for the faint of heart.” She called her tenure at the company extraordinary and said she was proud of the company’s growth, which has grown into the $700 billion giant it is today.

“Leaving as Vice President with the company approaching $100 billion in annual revenue, a market cap of $700 billion (reaching $1 trillion during the pandemic), and delivering over 1.8 million cars a year, I am proud of how much we have achieved together,” Venkatratnam wrote in his post.

Furthermore, responding to comments by former Tesla CFO Jason Wheeler, Venkatratnam said that working for Tesla is “definitely not for the faint of heart.”

Describing his work, Venkatratnam wrote, “In my strategic role, I had the privilege of contributing to the creation of Model S, Model X, Model 3, Model Y, Cybertruck and several new factories. I was also involved in the development of our energy products. Our team played a key role in transforming many industries with new solutions, most notably changing the DMV process to fully automate car purchase and registration in many states.”
