Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova knocked out of US Open in second round

Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova has been knocked out of the US Open in the second round. She was defeated by Elina-Gabriela Ruje 6-4, 7-5. Elina’s performance in this match held at Flushing Meadows was excellent. This is the first time that 122nd ranked qualifier Elina has reached the third round of the tournament.

On the other hand, Czech Republic’s star player Krejcikova had to face challenges against Elina. This defeat is no less than a shock for her, who was not able to play any tournament on hard courts since February. This is the third consecutive year when Barbora Krejcikova could not progress beyond the second round of the US Open.

Alina expressed her happiness over the victory

After her win, Alina Ruje expressed her joy, saying, “I have no words; I can’t believe it. It was a great match for me. Barbora is an incredible player who has won so many matches over the last two years, and it feels like a dream to me.”

He credited his father for his victory and said, “I don’t know how I did it. I just tried to hit every ball and play my game. My father is definitely a part of my good fortune.”

She will clash with Paula Badosa in the third round

Elina said, “This is his (father’s) first time in the US, so I am very happy to be here with him. I want to thank my team, especially my coach because the last few months have been difficult due to my injuries, and I am really happy that I am fine and back in the match.” In the next round, Elina will face Paula Badosa, who recently defeated American Taylor Townsend in straight sets.
