Will UP’s new conversion law maintain Yogi Adityanath’s power or even increase it?

Yogi Adityanath has fired two powerful arrows from his quiver, one of which is of the Brahmastra category, which has an infallible target. And the other is a big lesson for UP BJP, for everyone from top to bottom.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has warned all his political opponents in an encounter style that if anyone shows any smartness, then the loss will not be limited to just one person. No one will be spared – it is better that everyone reforms while there is still time.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has explained to the entire BJP in simple words, ‘If assembly elections were held today, both the Samajwadi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party would get equal number of seats.’

Such calculations were being done at many places on the basis of votes received in the Lok Sabha elections 2024, but it is a big thing when Yogi Adityanath himself said this. This is a clear warning, with the ability that if anyone tries to take things lightly, then they may have to face consequences.

And the Brahmastra is the law in which provisions for more stringent punishments than before have been made against love jihad. Yogi Adityanath had started a campaign against forced conversion for marriage in the name of love jihad, due to which he has reached his current position – and when that place is under threat, he is again trying to take the same campaign forward in an even more stringent manner.

One law is enough to explain the difference between government and organization

‘Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion (Amendment) Act 2024’ – This anti-conversion law is also being known as the Love Jihad law – this name is being read in many media reports. In the new form of the law, converting religion by hiding facts or by intimidation has also been put in the category of crime, in which a provision of punishment up to life imprisonment has been made.

It came in the form of an ordinance in November 2020, which was later passed by both the houses of UP and converted into the ‘Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act-2021’ – and now it has been amended and made more stringent than before.

The campaign against love jihad was run by Hindu Yuva Vahini in UP. Gradually, that campaign has taken the form of a strict law. Before becoming the Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, while being the MP of Gorakhpur, had formed Hindu Yuva Vahini for his social activities apart from the responsibilities of the monastery, which became so powerful and effective that he established political dominance in the area – and after BJP won the elections, he also became the Chief Minister. After running the government for five years, he also returned to power, but after BJP’s poor performance in the Lok Sabha elections, Yogi Adityanath came under the scanner.

As soon as the election results came out, Yogi Adityanath’s political opponents became active, and it is said that they were supported from within the BJP itself. The vocal voice of opposition was heard from the mouth of Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya, and then similar tactics were seen from the other Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak as well.

Before the 2019 general elections, both the RSS and the BJP had started raising questions that if the Ram Mandir is not built in Ayodhya during the tenure of Modi and Yogi, then when will it be built? Obviously, along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yogi Adityanath in UP was also being understood and explained as a staunch Hindutva leader – however, now the temple has also been built.

Everyone in the Sangh and BJP knows that it is the image of a Hindu leader that has taken Modi from the post of Chief Minister of Gujarat to the post of Prime Minister, and after Modi, the political rise of Yogi is also being seen from the same perspective.

Just like there were a lot of thorns in Modi’s path, Yogi’s supporters believe that there is a wall of thorns in his path. The campaign going on against Yogi Adityanath in UP BJP is aimed at disturbing him, which is being seen as an eye of political opponents on his chair.

It is worth noting that Yogi Adityanath is trying to retain his hold on the UP CM chair by promoting the same political issues that helped him to become the CM of UP – and at the same time, he has also warned his political opponents in his own style.

The method of warning BJP from top to bottom is also amazing

Whatever Yogi Adityanath said in the NDA Legislature Party meeting at Lok Bhavan in Lucknow, hardly anyone would have expected such a political statement from his mouth. Because during elections, he only talks about things that will cool down everyone’s anger. And not during Lok Sabha elections, but during Assembly elections when everything is at stake for him.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that if assembly elections are held today, BJP and Samajwadi Party will get equal number of seats, 185-185. Yogi Adityanath said this when a meeting of BJP and alliance partners was being held before the assembly session.

Yogi Adityanath, through calculations based on the Lok Sabha elections 2024, showed the sketch of the current status of BJP in UP through figures in his own way. Presenting the assembly-wise assessment, Yogi Adityanath said, if seen according to the Lok Sabha elections, Samajwadi Party has won 183 seats and Congress has won 16 seats… and if assembly elections are held now, then both BJP and Samajwadi Party will get equal 185-185 seats.

In such a situation, when by-elections are going to be held on 10 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh soon, Yogi Adityanath has not given such a statement without reason, rather it is an attempt from his side to make the entire BJP aware of the political reality of UP.

If we look at it, Yogi Adityanath has made it clear from his side that if the reins of UP are taken out of his hands, then even those who can explain the difference between the government and the organization will not be in a position to do anything. If the reins of the government are not in his hands, then the organization will not be able to do anything. If the caution is not taken away, the Samajwadi Party will form the government. It seems as if BJP and Nitish Kumar keep scaring people in the name of jungle raj in Bihar, and here Yogi Adityanath’s target is his political opponents in the BJP.

Yogi Adityanath has said what he wanted to say. BJP can try if it wants, and now no one should try to tell or show that Yogi is responsible for BJP’s defeat in UP. Yogi Adityanath has also blamed those MLAs who are not active in their areas and on social media. Meaning, their ticket may also be in danger next time. Wherever BJP has lost Lok Sabha seats, the MLAs of those places will be held responsible for it – and before the next elections, all of them will be held accountable. MLAs whose electoral performance is not good, and in whatever way they are involved in protests or opposition activities, they are also in trouble now.
