Will roam around with my boyfriend, TMC MP’s controversial statement on protesting doctors in Kolkata

The public is furious over the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Doctors and health workers in hospitals across the country are protesting against this heinous incident. Bankura’s Trinamool Congress MP Arup Chakraborty has given a controversial statement regarding this movement.

Trinamool Congress MP Arup Chakraborty has said that any attempt to smear ink on the Chief Minister will have serious consequences. He has also warned that doctors participating in the ongoing protest may have to face the public’s anger. If doctors go home in the name of the movement instead of doing their medical work and if doctors go out with their boyfriends in the name of the movement, then there will be public anger.

At a rally in Machantala, Chakraborty criticised the opposition’s efforts and warned protesting junior doctors to return to work. He also warned that public outrage could spread if hospital services remained disrupted. He reprimanded a section of the police for allegedly supporting opposition activities and urged them to follow the state government’s instructions. He also said, public anger could flare up, if people’s patients die, public outrage will spread. If patients die without treatment, will the patient’s family leave them?

He also slammed the police, saying that there are some policemen who are not working in an impartial manner. He also reminded that they work under the government. They should keep this in mind. We have such reports and we will report it to the highest level. At the same time, the CPM has strongly condemned Chakraborty’s statements and accused him of seeing everyone, including the opposition, protesting doctors and even the police, as opponents in the face of public outrage.

Let us tell you that on August 9, 2024, a post graduate trainee doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. She was raped and then murdered. There is anger in the whole country due to this incident, after which protests are taking place across the country. Many people associated with the medical field in Kolkata are demanding justice.

Earlier, the agency had conducted psychological test of the accused. Now the polygraph test will reveal how much truth and lies the accused is telling.
