Will relatives of BJP leaders also be able to get tickets? An experiment can be done in Haryana elections on the advice of RSS

After the crushing defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Jugalbandi of RSS and BJP has now started again. Both are preparing together to win the Haryana Assembly elections. The officials of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) held a five-hour marathon meeting on Monday evening to increase mutual coordination after the sourness in relations. Many issues were discussed between the two organizations. Many kinds of grievances were also resolved. But the most important thing discussed in this meeting was whether the relatives of BJP leaders should be given tickets or not. Actually, there are about a dozen leaders in Haryana BJP who are demanding tickets for their close relatives. And the biggest thing is that these people are such who are also capable of getting their relatives elected. The second thing is that if their people do not get tickets, then there is also a fear of these people becoming neutral. Anyway, the party’s problems in Haryana are not less. The party is not in a position to take any more trouble. The problem before BJP is that it came to power in a state like Haryana by opposing the Chautala family and the Hooda family by making dynasty politics an issue. Now if the party gives tickets to the relatives of BJP leaders, then how will it be able to oppose dynasty politics.

What happened in the meeting of BJP and RSS

According to a report published in The Hindu, RSS General Secretary Arun Kumar, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, former Haryana Chief Minister and current Union Minister M.L. Khattar, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan (in-charge of the party for Haryana elections), Lok Sabha MP Biplab Deb and BJP General Secretary (Organization) B.L. Santosh participated in this coordination meeting of BJP-RSS. In the meeting, emphasis was laid on how the best coordination can be made between RSS and BJP. Also, an attempt was made to take a clear stand on how to deal with the state leaders who are demanding tickets for their relatives. It was also discussed that if the party gives tickets to the relatives of the leaders, then how will it be brought to the public. Because opposition to dynasty has been a major USP of BJP.

In fact, BJP and RSS have always taken a tough stand against dynastic politics. Despite this, many people were given tickets, which was an exception. Every party is formed only to win elections. Therefore, the ability to win becomes important. The situation is the same in Haryana. Many leaders seeking tickets for their relatives are in such a strong position in their local constituencies that ignoring them can prove costly for the party.

Who all are asking for tickets for their relatives in Haryana?

Among the party leaders seeking tickets for their relatives are Union Minister Rao Indrajit Singh, who is seeking a ticket for his daughter Aarti Rao. Rao Indrajit had recently expressed his grief that he has not yet been elevated to the rank of Minister of State. MP Dharamvir, who wants a ticket for his brother or son; Union Minister Krishan Pal Gurjar, whose son, Devendra Pal Chaudhary, is in the fray; senior Haryana leader Kuldeep Bishnoi has not received anything yet; it is clear that if he wants to remain associated with the party, he will also have to be given a ticket. He also has a demand for his son. Former MP Ramesh Kaushik is seeking a ticket for his brother Devendra Kaushik. Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta wants to field his nephew on a BJP ticket from Panchkula. The party knows that these people are in such a position that if they get a ticket, they will win the seat.

The other thing is that this time the fight is going to be very tough. BJP has already lost 5 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. That is why the party wants to take RSS into confidence. Because if RSS comes together on this issue, it will help in managing the party cadre and keeping the morale high.

PM Modi had given the definition of familyism

The Bharatiya Janata Party has been accusing not only the Congress but also all regional parties of nepotism. The party’s slogan against nepotism was effective because many parties in the South, including the Congress, Samajwadi Party, RJD, INLD, PDP, National Conference, Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar), are running on the basis of nepotism. The BJP has also been accused of nepotism. There is no doubt that many relatives have got tickets in the Bharatiya Janata Party. But firstly, it is very less compared to other parties. Secondly, relatives have not been given a very important role. During the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had defined nepotism in this way in a conversation with the editors of Aaj Tak.

PM Modi said, ‘When I say family party, people in the media ask me that Rajnath Singh also has a son. Let me tell you that there is a difference between the two. When I say family party, it means party of the family, by the family and for the family. If 10 people from a family come into public life, I don’t think it is bad. If four people come forward with great enthusiasm, I don’t think it is bad either. But they don’t run the party, the party takes the decision.’
PM Modi had said something similar in the Lok Sabha in February this year. PM Modi had said something similar then too. Regarding nepotism, he had said that what kind of nepotism are we talking about? If more than one person in a family enters the political field on their own strength with public support, then we do not call it nepotism. We call nepotism that party which is run by a family. All the decisions of the party are taken by the family members, that is nepotism. From these words of PM Modi, it seemed that the party may adopt a flexible approach in the matter of giving tickets to relatives in the future.
