‘Will not let the film run without SGPC’s permission’, former CM Channi’s warning on Kangana’s ’emergency’

BJP MP from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh and actress Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’ has been mired in controversies even before its release. Congress MP and former Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi has said that the film will neither be released nor allowed to be released without the permission of the SGPC. He said, ‘Kangana should not be taken too seriously.’

Charanjit Singh Channi said, ‘Punjab, Haryana, Himachal are part of the old Punjab and everyone has brotherhood among themselves. The mutual bond has never broken and will never be allowed to break. This has to be maintained and if any force tries to break it, then it will be given a befitting reply.’

‘There is no need to take Kangana too seriously’

He said, ‘After the independence of the country, the history of Punjab is that Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians have lived together with love and till date there has been no incident of riots here. He said that there is no need to take Kangana Ranaut too seriously and one should not get angry like Simranjit Singh Mann.’

Regarding Kangana Ranaut’s film Emergency, Charanjit Singh Channi said that wherever Sikh history is to be shown, permission should be taken from SGPC by showing the film first. SGPC is the most important institution of the Sikh community and it is necessary to take permission from it.

‘SGPC certificate is necessary’

Channi said, ‘If they want to run their film, then first the film should be shown to SGPC and the characters of Sikh history should be shown correctly. SGPC will decide and the film will be run only after their certificate. Without the permission of SGPC, neither the film will be run nor will it be allowed to be run.’
