Nishikant Dubey, Bharatiya Janata Party MP Nishikant Dubey raised the demand of creating a new Union Territory in the Parliament a day ago. He said that a new Union Territory should be created by combining parts of West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand. He cited illegal infiltration of Bangladeshis in the tribal areas here as the reason behind this. Now a BJP MLA has also supported this demand of Nishikant Dubey.

West Bengal’s Murshidabad MLA Gauri Shankar Ghosh on Friday said that he had sent a letter to the President, Prime Minister, Union Home Minister and West Bengal Governor on August 2, 2022, demanding the formation of a new Union Territory. He said, I had informed the Center about Bangladeshis illegally entering the country through Malda and Murshidabad districts, which could be a threat to regional and national security. I hope the Home Ministry will consider this subject seriously.

Which areas are being demanded to be separated?

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey had said in the Lok Sabha that due to the infiltration of Bangladeshis in the Santhal Pargana region of Jharkhand, the tribal population is decreasing rapidly and the Muslim population is increasing here. Godda, Deoghar, Dumka, Jamtara, Sahibganj and Pakur districts come under the Pargana region. Apart from this, Malda and Murshidabad of West Bengal, Araria, Kishanganj and Katihar of Bihar should be combined to form a separate union territory.

What is the claim of BJP MP

Nishikant Dubey claimed that Bangladeshi infiltrators come to these areas of West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand and marry tribal women. Later these women contest elections from Zila Panchayat to Lok Sabha. He said, there are at least 100 villages where the husbands of the Gram Pradhans are Muslims. Due to this, the tribal population is also decreasing rapidly here. He claimed that 36 percent of the population of Santhal Paragana region was tribal, which has now decreased to 26 percent. He said, there are 25 assembly seats in the state where the number of Muslim voters has increased from 110 to 125 percent.
