Why is there a discussion about Nitish’s son Nishant, Bluetooth speaker and bhajans in Bihar politics?

Last Updated on 30/07/2024 by wccexam Desk

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant Kumar has tried to dismiss all claims of him entering politics. While doing so, Nishant said, ‘I have come here from a spiritual point of view. I have come to buy a speaker for my mobile so that I can listen to ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’ properly. I have already embarked on the spiritual path.’

Rejecting the claims of entering politics, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant Kumar said that he has embarked on the path of spirituality. In fact, last week, while coming out of an electronics store in Bihar’s capital Patna, Nishant Kumar dismissed the news flying around in the corridors of politics about him and said that he has already embarked on the path of spirituality.

Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar’s party JDU has got new energy from the current situation amid the continuous decline in the state. JDU has gained strength due to joining NDA and being the third largest party in the alliance. Many people including election strategist turned politician Prashant Kishore have said that JDU is continuously weakening in Bihar.

If we look at it from an electoral perspective, JDU has already lost its numbers in the last few years in both Lok Sabha and Bihar Assembly. Amidst all this, the health condition of party supremo Nitish Kumar has further increased the party’s concerns and challenges. In this context, the possibility of Nitish’s son Nishant joining politics was being seen as a possible solution to the leadership crisis facing the party.

Who is Bihar CM Nitish’s son Nishant Kumar?

Like his father Nitish Kumar, Nishant is also an engineer. Nishant is a graduate in software engineering from Birla Institute of Technology (BIT-Mesra), Ranchi. He lives a normal life and is rarely seen in public life with his father Nitish. Despite being the son of Bihar’s Chief Minister, he has chosen to keep himself away from politics.

The claim of Nishant Kumar making his debut in politics gained momentum during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Then many JDU leaders had hinted at his joining the party. However, Nishant has been continuously denying these claims. Earlier in June, JDU General Secretary Param Hans Kumar had said that in view of the current situation, Nishant should come forward for the betterment of the party and the state. Param Hans Kumar said, ‘Nishant ji can prove to be a very calm and visionary leader. As far as we have seen and heard, he is very well behaved and can be an effective youth leader.’

However, Nishant himself and several other senior JDU leaders, including Vijay Kumar Choudhary, have consistently denied such claims. They called these speculations baseless and also urged party leaders not to discuss the issue publicly. Nishant Kumar is rarely seen at 1 Anne Marg, the chief minister’s residence of Bihar, and has limited his presence there. However, according to a report in The Sunday Guardian, he visits his home district Nalanda once a month.

Nitish is not comfortable with dynastic politics

Senior Patna journalist Santosh Singh told Aaj Tak, ‘Nishant Kumar is under pressure from some selfish leaders of the party to join politics.’ Santosh Singh says that Nitish Kumar himself is not comfortable with this idea. This has been going on for a long time. He may be considering this.

According to senior Patna journalist Rohit Singh, 73-year-old Nitish Kumar – who has previously criticised Lalu Yadav and his party RJD for promoting dynastic politics – may face challenges and attacks while promoting his son Nishant Kumar. Nitish is counted among the few big leaders of India whose family members are not in politics.

Senior journalist Rohit Singh said, ‘Nitish has always criticized dynastic politics. I don’t think Nishant will join politics as long as Nitish Kumar is active.’ He said, it seems that Nishant Kumar is currently interested in gaining personal knowledge and he is engaged in this campaign. Buying a new Bluetooth speaker seems to be a step in this direction.
