Why Elle McPherson decided against chemo in the secret cancer battle

Elle McPherson Says she refused to pass Chemotherapy After being diagnosed Breast cancer and consulting 32 doctors.

The Australian supermodel nicknamed “The Body” reveals in her new book that she took a holistic approach to her illness, going against the wishes of some family members.

McPherson, 60, says she was diagnosed seven years ago and is now in clinical remission or, as she puts it, “full recovery.”

After seeking guidance from 32 doctors and specialists, writes Women’s Weekly, McPherson decided against conventional cancer treatment after praying and meditating on a beach in Miami.

She declined chemo treatment and instead decided to try an “intuitive, heart-led, holistic approach” under the care of an integrative healthcare physician. She didn’t say outright that she didn’t take any drugs but put her recovery down to “a combination of therapy and lifestyle changes to treat and heal the whole person.”

McPherson says she sought advice from Olivia Newton-John, who shared her experiences. According to Daily MailAt the time of her diagnosis she was dating notorious anti-vaxxer Andrew Wakefield.

The former supermodel has her own company that sells expensive supplements made with powdered fruits and vegetables, which she describes as “elixirs.”

She told Women’s Weekly: “It was a shock, it was unexpected, it was confusing, it was daunting in many ways, and it really gave me the opportunity to dig deep into my inner meaning to find a solution that worked for me… I Realized that I needed my own truth, my belief system to support me through it. So that’s what I did, to be true to myself, to trust myself and the nature of my body and the course of action I had chosen It was a wonderful exercise in faith.”

In her memoir, Elle, she writes: “I realized that there are no certainties and no guarantees. There was no ‘right’ way, just the right way for me. I chose a holistic approach. Saying no to standard medical solutions was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. But it would have been harder to say no to my own inner spirit.

She was under the care of a primary doctor, a naturopath, a holistic dentist, an osteopath, a chiropractor, and two therapists, and spent eight months alone in a rented house in Phoenix, Arizona, focusing on recovery.

Her sons, Flynn, then 19, and C, 14, reacted differently to their mother’s decision, she said. “Say just thought chemo killed you,” she writes in her book Women’s Weekly. “And so he never wanted me to do it because he thought it was the kiss of death. Flynn, being more traditional, was not at all comfortable with my choice. However, he is my son, and will support me in anything and love me through my choices, even if he doesn’t agree with them. My kids were very supportive in their different ways but I know they were very scared.

She said the boys’ father, her ex-partner, Archie Busson, did not agree with her decision but was “really supportive.”
