Indian female wrestler Vinesh Phogat has been disqualified from the Paris Olympics. Speaking to the agency, Sanjay Singh said, ‘The Government of India had provided Vinesh with a personal coach, personal physio and personal nutritionist. All the people are with her in the sports village. She fought for two days and her weight was the same. But how did her weight suddenly increase overnight, only her nutritionist will be able to answer this.’

‘It is the misfortune of the country that Vinesh got disqualified’

WFI chief Sanjay Singh further said, ‘Vinesh reached the final after wrestling so well, but it is our country’s misfortune that she was disqualified due to being 100 grams overweight. WFI is looking into its legal aspect. PT Usha has reached the sports village. We are considering the future strategy.’

When the Wrestling Federation of India chief was questioned about Vinesh’s ill health after she was disqualified, he said, ‘Vinesh had worked hard to lose weight at night. That’s why she suffered from slight dehydration. But now she is absolutely fit and is resting.’
