Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in the capital Kyiv on his one-day visit to Ukraine on Friday. On this historic visit, PM Modi met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and assured him of all possible help. During this, there was a wide discussion on many issues between the two countries. During the meeting of the two leaders, there was a moment when PM Modi hugged Zelensky. This warm meeting of the two leaders is being discussed everywhere.

After this visit of PM Modi, Foreign Minister Dr. S Jaishankar spoke to the media. During this, a journalist asked a question about Modi hugging Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. To which the Foreign Minister responded, ‘When people meet each other here, they hug each other. This may not be a part of your culture, but it is a part of our culture.’

Let us tell you that PM Modi’s visit to Ukraine is taking place six weeks after his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, which was heavily criticized by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. On July 8, the day PM Modi reached Moscow on his Russia tour, Russia attacked a children’s hospital in Ukraine.

41 people including many children were killed in the attack. After this, when pictures of PM Modi hugging Putin surfaced, there was a sharp reaction from Western countries including Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had said that it is disappointing to see the leader of the world’s largest democracy hugging the bloody criminal of Moscow.

In this connection, the media had asked this question to Foreign Minister Dr. S Jaishankar. This meeting between Prime Minister Modi and President Zelensky is being considered strategically important, especially at a time when global geopolitics is changing rapidly. The purpose of this conversation is not only to promote economic and defense cooperation between the two countries, but also to strengthen the role of both countries on the global stage.

Describing this conversation as positive, Foreign Minister Jaishankar said that relations between India and Ukraine will become stronger in the future. Both countries will benefit from this visit of PM Modi.
