Most wrestlers have crooked and swollen ears. In scientific terms, it is called “Cauliflower Ear”. Let’s know the reason behind this.

A medical research publisher named Medicinet has published a study paper on this. It states that the ear bones of wrestlers do not get broken or deformed on their own, but it is the result of a process.

Why is it called Cauliflower Year

Cauliflower ear is a condition that occurs when small blood clots form in the ear due to rubbing on the mat during wrestling. These clots block the flow of blood and nutrients. When the injury to the ear begins to heal, the ear shrinks and curls up and appears yellow, giving it a cauliflower-like shape. Hence, it is called cauliflower ear.

The body temperature of wrestlers increases during hard work. The blood vessels near the ears are very delicate. When a wrestler makes his first move, the body temperature increases and pressure is applied on the ears. Due to this pressure, the blood vessels burst and sometimes even the bone breaks.

After this, the ear gradually fills with blood and its structure changes. No wrestler gets it treated because treatment can cause more problems. Without treatment, they do not have any major problem and it is considered a normal thing in wrestling.
