In the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, the Samajwadi Party is preparing to make a deprived face the leader of the opposition under the PDA formula. Now the name of Tufani Saroj has also been added to this race. Tufani Saroj is a three-time MP and is the current MLA from Kerakat seat of Jaunpur. This time SP chief Akhilesh Yadav had fielded his daughter Priya Saroj from Machhlishahr seat, in which she won and reached the Parliament of the country.

According to sources, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav can hand over this responsibility to Toofani Saroj, who has a good hold on the Pasi voters of Purvanchal. Earlier, Indrajit Saroj’s name was in the lead for this post. If sources are to be believed, some senior leaders have expressed disagreement with the name of Indrajit Saroj as he comes from BSP cadre.

According to the information, Samajwadi Party will announce the name of the leader of opposition in the assembly. For this, the names of Indrajit Saroj, Ram Achal Rajbhar and Toofani Saroj are leading.

Akhilesh Yadav had resigned

Earlier, Akhilesh Yadav himself held the post of Leader of Opposition in the Assembly. The SP chief was an MLA from Karhal seat of Mainpuri. However, in 2024, he contested and won the Lok Sabha elections from Kannauj, after which he is doing Delhi politics. He resigned from the Karhal seat and also left the post of Leader of Opposition in the Assembly. After that, there was also speculation that Akhilesh Yadav could hand over this responsibility to his uncle Shivpal Yadav, but SP has its eyes on the backward society.
