Which were the animals who first had sexual relations to carry forward the generation

There are many types of creatures in our world. There are animals. They have sex to produce children. Dogs, cats, birds, bees and even us humans. But have you ever wondered which animal must have had sex first. That is, must have physically completed the sexual process to produce children.

These animals are ocean sponges. Today they have released sperm and eggs in the ocean and created new sponge larvae inside the water. However, scientists are still searching for the real date of this mystery. But at present, sponge is the only animal found that had sexual intercourse first.

This has been discovered by scientists from the University of Hawaii. About 800 million years ago, sponges did not do this. After mating, one partner would kill the other partner. Kill it. Hunt it. Associate Professor of Biology at the University of Iowa, John Longsdon, told that the organisms that had sex for the first time have been mating even before that, we just have to find out. Which is not easy.

This special cell is being discovered and investigated

John Longsdon said that to investigate this, we investigated meiosis. That is, the reproductive cell formed by the breakdown of cells, which is called eukaryotes. This is the nucleus found inside a cell. Like plants, animals or fungi. So the question arose that when did the first eukaryotes arise?

Which animal had sex for the first time?

Only eukaryotes can tell which animal had the first sexual intercourse. The answer is about 200 crore years ago. This was when a simple bacteria started exchanging some genetic information among themselves in this way. But this cannot be called sexual intercourse. Because it is not physical.

There is some evidence from 35.9 to 41.9 million years ago

The way sexual intercourse, copulation happens, as humans and many animals do. When did it first happen? An investigation began. The earliest evidence of intimate sexual reproduction is found in the placoderm fishes present in the Devonian period. Like Microbrachius dicki. This is about 41.9 crore years to 35.9 crore years ago.

Male Microbachius dicki fish had special claspers which worked like a penis. These helped in fertilizing the female fish internally. At the same time, the female’s body had organs that supported the claspers. These fish used to dive while having sex in the sea. After this, when they had children, even then the male and female fish used to dive in the same way.

What is the benefit of sexual reproduction?

If a single organism produces a child i.e. asexual reproduction, then only its genes come inside the child. Whereas if the male and female do this together, then the child gets the genes of both. Which gives the child the strength and ability to survive in the future environment. Sharks are asexual. Jelly fish clone themselves in this way. But by doing sexual reproduction, changes taking place in the environment can also be avoided.
