Where will Sheikh Hasina get political asylum? Amidst the suspense, UK Foreign Minister spoke to Jaishankar

Former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina is in India these days, there is speculation that she is seeking political asylum in Britain. However, suspense remains about what her future plan is. Meanwhile, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has spoken to British Foreign Minister David Lammy on the developments in Bangladesh. This information was given by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal in a media briefing.

Randhir Jaiswal said that the two leaders have talked about developments in Bangladesh and West Asia. However, Jaishankar had already informed about the approval of Sheikh Hasina’s visit to India, he had told in Parliament how we had allowed Sheikh Hasina to come here. Earlier this week in Parliament, Jaishankar had clarified that Sheikh Hasina had only sought permission to visit India “for now”.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the interests of the people of Bangladesh are foremost in our mind. We are aware of the attacks on Hindu minorities and many steps have been taken. We will remain concerned until law and order is restored there. The welfare of all citizens is the responsibility of the law and the government. This is in the interest of the country and the entire region.

Randhir Jaiswal said that many of our people go to Britain, wherever violence is taking place, Indians should be cautious there, because at this time we have issued an advisory as per the report of the law and order situation in Britain.
