Wrestler Vinesh Phogat joined Congress on Friday. Wrestler Bajrang Punia also joined Congress along with her. Both of them have started their political innings just a few days before the Haryana assembly elections. After joining the party, they targeted BJP.
After joining Congress, Vinesh Phogat said, ‘I hope to live up to your expectations. Thank you very much to Congress. In bad times, we come to know who is our own.’ She said, ‘Today I am feeling very proud that I am in a party that is ready to fight for women from the streets to the Parliament.’
She said, ‘When we were being dragged on the streets, all the parties except BJP supported us. From today I am starting a new innings.’ Vinesh said that the fight is still going on, we will win that battle too. We will not be afraid and will not back down.
‘I played with my heart, I will stand with you with my heart’
After joining hands with Congress, Vinesh said, ‘I stand with every woman who finds herself helpless. If I wanted, I could have left wrestling at Jantar Mantar. BJP IT cell spread the lie that our career is over. We do not want to play Nationals. I played Nationals, played Olympics. God had some different plans.’
He said, ‘Bajrang was banned for four years on charges of doping because he stood with us. Our fight will continue in the court.’ Vinesh said, ‘I played with my heart, I will stand with you with my heart.’
Bajrang Punia targeted BJP
Bajrang Punia, who joined Congress along with Vinesh, said, ‘BJP IT cell says that our only aim is to do politics. We had invited BJP, their women MPs but they did not stand with the daughters. But Congress stood with us. BJP was with the injustice done to the daughters, the rest of the parties were with us.’ He said that when Vinesh reached the final, the whole country was happy. But when Vinesh was out, the whole country was sad and the people of the IT cell were celebrating.
