Salman, who has been in the news for the firing outside his house for some time now, did something in 2010 for which he was in the news. One of his special efforts helped the doctors a lot in saving the life of a girl.
When Salman donated bone marrow
In 2010, Salman donated his bone marrow to save the life of a little girl. He had registered with the Marrow Donor Registry India (MDRI) to donate bone marrow whenever required. Obviously, Salman’s name made headlines for this special effort. In a 2010 report, MDRI board member Dr. Sunil Parekh confirmed this news.
Dr. Parekh had said, ‘People suffering from diseases and I are very grateful to Salman Khan for coming forward for this cause. Four years ago, Salman had read about a little girl Pooja, who needed a bone marrow transplant. He asked his entire football team to come forward and donate marrow. Unfortunately, they all backed out at the last minute and only Salman and Arbaaz came forward and became the first donors.’
Salman had said this on bone marrow donation
At that time, Salman had said on the problem of bone marrow donation in India, ‘We have only 5000 donors. Not only is there a lack of awareness, but our attitude is also a problem. Save lives by donating marrow. It is just like a blood test. I know some people are afraid of blood tests, but by being a little brave you can bring about a big change.’
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama in 2022, Suniel Shetty had mentioned Salman’s bone marrow donation. He said, ‘Salman Khan donated his bone marrow to someone years ago. This is done by people who want to change the world and that is why God is very humble towards him. God is taking care of him. He is God’s favorite child.’
