In the climax scene of the movie ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, when Munni shouts from the border – ‘Mama… Jai Shri Ram…’, there would hardly be anyone who would not have become emotional after watching this scene. This scene gave goosebumps to the audience. But this climax was made so lively at the last minute.
After filming this, director Kabir Khan was confused because Munni’s voice did not have that feel which would leave an impression on the audience. It was a bit confusing, Kabir was helped to fix this by his daughter Saira.
Confusion over midnight climax
Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan is considered one of the cult classic films of Hindi cinema. Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Harshali Malhotra were in the lead roles in the film. Salman and Harshali’s uncle-niece chemistry won everyone’s heart. The audience became very emotional on every scene of the film. The climax scene brought tears to the eyes. Because in the film, Munni i.e. Harshali was shown in the role of a girl who cannot speak, whose voice comes out at the end when Salman crosses the border.
Kabir said- We were watching the edit for the last time at 11:30 pm, the premiere was to happen the next morning. During the shoot, we were able to understand everything Harshali was saying, but when we sat down to listen, we raised this doubt at night that it was confusing. I said I didn’t understand this and the whole movie was lost. I called the security guards and said that we are showing you something, you tell us what the girl is saying. When I showed it to them, they didn’t understand. Then I called some others, they also didn’t understand. I thought I was dead.

Kabir’s daughter helped him
What we did was we recorded the sound at a speed and we are elongating it more. Now Harshali lived very far away, we could not bring her. My daughter Saira was also only 6 years old at that time. I called my wife Minnie to see if we could bring Saira. She said she is sleeping, she has school tomorrow. I said Minnie please get up and bring her. Saira came…she said baba what to do, I have just woken up from sleep and my voice is cracked. Then I explained to her that you have to shout Mama… Jai Shri Ram. Then I told her to scream and say it like that. Poor girl she screamed in her sleep and recorded it. We have also given her a small credit for that at the end.
The film Bajrangi Bhaijaan was released in the year 2015. It was produced by Salman Khan Films. Made on a budget of around 90 crores, this film rocked the box office. The film ran in theatres for a long time and did a business of around 900 crores.
