Four people were killed and at least nine others were injured When a shooter opened fire Wednesday morning at Apalachi High School in Georgia. Two of the victims killed in the shooting were students of the school and the others were teachers, officials said. They were identified as Mason Schermerhorn, Christian Angulo, Richard Aspinwall and Christina Irimi.
Barrow County Sheriff Judd Smith said at a news conference that the shots were fired “in some capacity” and that all were expected to survive their injuries, nine people hospitalized after the shooting, adding that the group included eight students and a teacher. is Barrow County includes Winder, a town about an hour northeast of Atlanta where Apalachee High School is located.
The authorities have A suspect was arrested14-year-old Colt Gray, who was a student in high school. He was taken into custody alive and will be charged with murder and “handled” as an adult, Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Chris Hosey said.

Christina Irimi
Christina Irimi was one of two Apalachee High School teachers who died in the shooting. She was 53 years old.
He is listed as a math instructor in the staff directory published online by the Barrow County School District.
Isaac Sanguma, a student at the school, said he was present when the shooting took place “CBS Morning” K Irimi was his math teacher.
The last time Sanguma spoke to Irimi on Wednesday morning, he said, she encouraged him to get to class on time. The high school junior called Irimi welcoming and said she prioritized instilling a sense of self-confidence in her students. He also said he was a kind person who told “corny jokes”.
“I didn’t know it would be my last time to see her and talk to her,” Sanguma said. “I can’t believe my teacher, someone I see every day … it doesn’t seem real.”
Richard Aspinwall
Richard Aspinwall was the other Appalachian High School math teacher killed in the shooting. He was 39 years old.
Aspinwall was an assistant coach for the high school football team and the father of two young girls. Atlanta Journal-Constitution informed. The head football coach, Mike Hancock, told the outlet that Aspinwall would hug his wife, Shayna, and their children in the end zone after every game.
He previously served as a secondary football coach at Mountain View High School in Lawrenceville, Georgia, according to that school’s football team.
“It is with great sympathy that we share that former MV secondary coach Ricky Aspinwall was tragically lost today during a senseless act at a nearby high school,” one message read. Christian Angulo
Angulo was one of two students killed in the shooting at Apalachi High School. He was 14 years old.
A GoFundMe campaign created by Lisette Angulo, who identified herself as Angulo’s oldest sister, described her as a “very good child” who was “very sweet and very caring.”
“He was much loved by many,” it reads. “His loss was so sudden and unexpected.. We are truly heartbroken.. He really didn’t deserve this.”
Angulo’s family has asked for donations to help with his funeral expenses. As of Thursday afternoon, the campaign had raised $40,000 more than its original goal.
Mason Schermerhorn
Mason Schermerhorn was the other student killed in Wednesday’s school shooting. Like Angulo, Schermerhorn was 14 years old.
Friends of Schermerhorn’s family said New York Times that he was a family-oriented teenager who “really enjoyed life.” One of them, identified by the newspaper as 40-year-old Doug Kilburn, said Schermerhorn “always had an upbeat attitude about everything.” Louis Briscoe, a co-worker and friend of Schermerhorn’s mother, said the teenager and his family were looking forward to their next vacation to Disney World, the New York Times reported.
