What is Nabbana Protest, due to which TMC and BJP are face to face, 6000 policemen deployed on the streets of Kolkata

After the brutality with the doctor in RG Kar Hospital, there are continuous protests in West Bengal. But this protest took a new turn when the students announced the ‘Nabanna Abhiyan’ protest demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Let us tell you that Nabanna Bhawan located in Howrah is the state secretariat. An organization named Paschimbanga Chhatra Samaj has announced this protest on 27 August i.e. today. BJP has also supported this protest. In view of this protest, security arrangements have been tightened in Kolkata. TMC has called this protest a conspiracy of BJP.

Three layer security outside Nabanna Bhawan

Kolkata Police said that more than 6000 policemen will be deployed in the city in view of the ‘Nabanna Abhiyan’. Barricades have been installed at a total of 19 points. 5 aluminum barricades have been built at different important places. There will be a 3-layer security cover of Kolkata Police and Howrah City Police outside the Nabanna building. Officials have been appealed to be more vigilant and monitor CCTV footage.

Details sought for performance

Kolkata Police has sent a mail to the organizers of Nabanna Abhiyaan seeking information about the leaders who will lead the rallies. Police has sought information from the organizers about how many people will gather, from where and how many rallies will be started, what will be the route etc. However, the police has not received any reply from the organizer yet. Special arrangements will be made at College Square in Kolkata. Police has intelligence reports of a large number of people gathering there. According to the intel report, the two biggest rallies will be organized at College Square in Kolkata and Santragachhi in Kolkata.

UGC NET exam is also scheduled to be held on 27 August. The exam is to be held in two shifts from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and then from 3 pm to 6 pm. Kolkata Police has said that adequate arrangements have been made so that no UGC NET candidate faces any difficulty in reaching their exam centers.

TMC made this allegation on the opposition

The ruling TMC has blamed the opposition for this demonstration. TMC says that the opposition wants to spread unrest in the state and has instigated this demonstration to spoil the atmosphere.
