Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said during an event on Sunday that ‘when the key issues of the crime are viewed with suspicion, the trial judge prefers to play safe by not granting bail’. In fact, the CJI was giving a speech on the issue of comparative equality and anti-discrimination at the 11th annual conference of the Berkeley Center.
