What did BJP MP Kangana Ranaut say on the issue of caste census and reservation?

Amidst the ongoing debate in the country on reservation, Bollywood actress and BJP MP from Mandi Lok Sabha seat of Himachal Pradesh, Kangana Ranaut expressed her views. During a discussion with Aaj Tak’s associate ‘The Lallantop’, Kangana Ranaut said, ‘My stand on reservation is the same as CM Yogi had said that if we stay together, we will remain noble and if we divide, we will be divided.’

Talking about the Bollywood industry, Kangana Ranaut said, ‘We don’t even know which actor belongs to what caste. I don’t know the caste of the people around me. When we haven’t found out till now, why should we find out now? The Prime Minister has said that the poor, farmers and women are the three castes. Apart from this, there should not be any fourth caste.’

Kangana further said, ‘Ramnath Kovind became the Dalit President of the country, Draupadi Murmu became the tribal woman President of the country. Why don’t we look at such examples. I stand by my party’s stand on reservation. But I think it is important to work for the safety of women, farmers and the poor.’

Talking about caste census, Kangana Ranaut said, ‘If we have to move towards a developed India, then we should talk about the poor, women and farmers. But if we have to burn the country, hate or fight and die with each other, then caste census should be done.’
