West Bengal: Crowd’s anger erupted at TMC leader’s house, accused of protecting the accused of sexual harassment

Villagers attacked the house of a local TMC leader on Saturday midnight on the charge of protecting the accused of sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl in Madhyamgram, West Bengal. When this incident came to light in Rajbari area of ​​Rohanda Panchayat of Madhyamgram, the local people got angry and started vandalizing the shops of the accused.

The anger of the crowd erupted at the house of the TMC leader

Police from Madhyagram police station reached the spot. The villagers were creating a ruckus and shouting slogans- ‘We want justice’. The locals continued vandalism even in front of the police. The mob even vandalized the house of a panchayat member of that area.

The villagers alleged that the Panchayat member’s husband tried to save the accused. This is why people’s anger erupted at the house of the local TMC leader. After this, additional police force reached the spot and the situation was brought under control.

The accused runs a grocery store

The police brought the situation under control by lathicharge and firing tear gas shells. The accused has been arrested by Madhyamgram police and will be produced in court. The police have arrested the accused person Rauf who runs a grocery shop. The husband of the local panchayat member has also been taken into custody by the police.

Two people arrested in the case

The police have arrested Abul Hafiz, the husband of a TMC panchayat member, for protecting the molestation accused. Sources said he tried to hide the crime and tried to convince the victim’s family not to report it to the police. A total of two people have been arrested in the case.
