Weather changed in Kerala because of humans… Rainfall increased by 10%, Wayanad collapsed, study

The people of India have collectively caused such a climate change that the result is that the intensity of rain has increased by 10 percent. This is the reason why a landslide occurred in Wayanad, Kerala. More than 350 people died. An international team of scientists has revealed this in their study.

The landslide that happened in Wayanad on 30 July 2024 was the worst disaster since 2018. Last time more than 400 people were killed due to floods. This study has been done by the World Weather Attribution Group (WWAG). According to this, the rainfall that happened in Wayanad in the 24 hours before the accident was 10 percent more in terms of intensity. The reason is climate change.

The state’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan blamed heavy rains for this disaster. He said that in the area where the accident took place, 23 inches of rain fell within 48 hours. That is, 572 mm. Whereas the forecast was for 8 inches of rain, that is, 204 mm. That is, twice as much rain fell. But rain is not at fault in this.

At the rate the earth is getting warmer, incidents like Wayanad will happen more often

At the rate at which fossil fuels are being burnt in India and the world, the world will soon become 2 degrees Celsius hotter. In such a situation, the incident that happened in Wayanad will become 4 percent more dangerous. Four percent of rain is too much. It will be like the cloud burst in Kedarnath or Himachal.

Only humans are responsible for such disasters

Climate is changing due to increased carbon emissions by humans. Due to this, there is a difference in the time, duration and intensity of rain. Due to this, the cases of landslides are increasing. Due to deforestation, mining, haphazard construction, unregulated tourism, mountains and such areas are getting burdened. Climate is changing.

Landslide incidents are increasing rapidly in India

The incidence of landslides is increasing continuously in India. This is a new disaster for this country. The way rainfall is increasing, the rainfall will keep increasing in the mountains and plateau areas. Landslides will also increase. Earlier, Asia had witnessed the outbreak of heat in May-June. This is also the result of climate change.
