We will make our wedding memorable… In the survey, every second groom said that destination wedding is the first choice

The trend of destination weddings is continuously increasing in India. A recent survey by Skyscanner claims that 85 percent Indians are in favor of destination weddings. According to the survey conducted on this trend, 49 percent of Generation Z people are excited about destination weddings while 33 percent of millennials also want to be a part of this trend.

According to the survey, the number of destination weddings has increased by 13 percent annually in 2024. Along with this, 66 percent of Indians are in favor of pre-wedding celebrations. Of these, 33 percent want to go on a weekend trip with family and friends. 32 percent would like to party on a cruise and 29 percent imagine an Italian-style banquet.

High profile weddings increased the trend!
In India, high profile weddings like that of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant have also promoted this trend. The youth have now become more inclined to spend freely to make their weddings memorable. According to a survey, 48% Indians like to have destination weddings in Asia, in which Thailand, Japan and Maldives are prominent.

At the same time, 31% want to visit UK, Spain, France and Italy in Europe. Goa, Dubai, Bali and Bangkok are also among the favorite cities for destination weddings. The survey further states that 26% people want to get married on the beach with sunset while 20% imagine a wedding in the royal environment of Jaipur and Udaipur. 19% want to get married in private places like Lake Como and Mussoorie. Similarly, 19% people think of glamorous wedding events in Dubai, New York and Bahrain.

Preparations begin 12 months in advance!
The trend of destination weddings is not only giving a new and exciting look to marriage, but it has also given a new direction to the tradition of weddings in India. According to the survey, 45 percent people are ready to increase their budget by 50 percent for destination weddings. 56 percent people make their choice keeping in mind the type and style of the venue. Among the cities, Udaipur, Goa, and Dehradun are gaining popularity as destination weddings.

The survey says that 62 percent people start preparing for destination wedding 12 months in advance. 40 percent people take the help of wedding planners while 36 percent plan destination wedding on the advice of family and friends. Skyscanner’s survey says that the desire for adventure and different style has attracted these youth towards destination wedding.
