mehbooba mufti , After the martyrdom of five soldiers in an encounter with terrorists in Doda, political rhetoric has also started. People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti has targeted the DGP of Jammu and Kashmir. The former Chief Minister of the state said on Tuesday that ‘There is no accountability here. If there was, the DGP would have been removed by now. About 50 soldiers have been martyred in the last 32 months. The current DGP is busy fixing things politically. He has been given the responsibility of breaking the PDP, harassing and intimidating people and journalists. Passport has been made a weapon. We need a DGP here, not a fixer. The DGP is imposing UAPA on more and more people. Earlier, people from other states came here as DGP and they did a very good job. But no one has ever worked on a communal basis like this before. Work is being done here only on communal basis.

Jammu and Kashmir DGP RR Swain is a 1991 batch IPS officer. He became the DGP of Jammu and Kashmir on 1 November last year.

Soldiers are leaving from here in coffins- Mehbooba

Mehbooba further said, ‘Soldiers from all over the country come to Kashmir to do duty but they are leaving here in coffins. If you say that terrorism has ended in the valley, then who is responsible for this? In the last 32 months, since the new DGP has been appointed, the maximum number of soldiers have been martyred. You people protect the border, so is it your responsibility to stop infiltration? Is it the responsibility of regional parties to stop infiltration? You have been presenting your views on terrorism for the last six years…what did you get from this? You have suffered a huge setback in North Kashmir.’

Jawans are bearing the brunt of BJP’s wrong policies: Rahul

Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has raised questions on the government while paying tribute to the martyred soldiers. Rahul said on Twitter that ‘Today our soldiers were martyred again in a terrorist encounter in Jammu and Kashmir. I pay my humble tribute to the martyrs and express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families. Such horrific incidents one after the other are extremely sad and worrying. These continuous terrorist attacks are telling the dilapidated condition of Jammu and Kashmir. Our soldiers and their families are bearing the brunt of BJP’s wrong policies. It is the demand of every patriotic Indian that the government should take full responsibility for the repeated security lapses and take strict action against the culprits of the country and the soldiers. In this hour of grief, the whole country stands united against terrorism.’
