Wayanad Landslide: 289 deaths so far, Army built a bridge in 16 hours to speed up the relief operation

After the terrible disaster in Wayanad, Kerala, the Indian Army has taken command of relief and rescue operations. On Thursday, the soldiers completed the construction of a Bailey bridge over a river near the landslide site in record time. In the video that surfaced from Wayanad, army soldiers are seen raising slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’.

The construction of Bailey Bridge in Wayanad has been completed by the Indian Army. To test the strength of the bridge, the army first took its vehicles to the other side of the river. After the completion of the work, the army personnel involved in the construction raised slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. With the construction of the bridge, heavy vehicles can now be taken to the landslide site.

The Indian Army has completed the construction of this bridge in record time. The CL 24 Bailey Bridge connects Choorlamalla to Mundakkai over the Iruvanipazha River. The bridge has been opened to traffic and handed over to the civic administration.

This bridge can carry a vehicle weighing 24 tonnes. The army said that this bridge is 190 feet long. According to tradition, the commander went to the bridge first. After successfully completing the construction of the Bailey bridge within 16 hours at the Wayanad landslide site, the army personnel raised slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’.

The landslide in Wayanad, Kerala has shaken the entire country. Four villages have been completely destroyed due to the landslide and so far 289 people have been reported dead. Congress leader and former MP from Wayanad Rahul Gandhi and his sister and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reached Kerala on Thursday and met the affected families.

Heavy rains on Monday-Tuesday night turned into a disaster in Wayanad. There were three landslides between 1 am and 5 am and this caused devastation in four beautiful villages of Choorlamalla, Attamala, Noolpuzha and Mundakkai, located in the catchment of the Cheliyar river below the mountain.
