Virat Kohli Rohit Sharma: ‘If Virat-Rohit had played in Duleep Trophy then…’, why did Team India’s veteran give this statement

Captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are currently on a break after the ODI series against Sri Lanka. The Indian team now has to play a two-match Test series against Bangladesh from September 19. Before this, the domestic tournament Duleep Trophy is also to be held from September 5, in which most of the senior players will be seen playing except Kohli-Rohit-Jasprit Bumrah.

Former Team India cricketer Suresh Raina’s statement has come out on Rohit-Virat being out of Duleep Trophy. Raina believes that both these legends should have played Duleep Trophy. According to Raina, the Indian team has not played red ball cricket for a long time. In such a situation, the players will need practice with the red ball. Apart from Bangladesh, India also has to play test matches against New Zealand and Australia in the coming days. However, Raina definitely said that spending time with family is also important.

‘Spending time with family is important…’

Raina told Sports Tak, ‘They should have played because we have not played red ball cricket since the IPL. If you are going into a busy domestic season, you need practice with the red ball. I think they are quite mature and they know what to do as players. Sometimes it becomes very important to spend time with family.’

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had made it clear to Test specialists that they should be ready for domestic matches when they are not part of the national team. However, exceptions to this rule were made for Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. It will depend on their wish whether they want to play or not.
