Violence broke out again in Bangladesh, secretariat surrounded, lathi-sticks used heavily, 50 injured

Violence has been reported once again in Bangladesh. Last night, a violent clash broke out between members of the Ansar Group and students near the Secretariat in the capital Dhaka. 50 people were injured in this incident. Members of the Ansar Group had been protesting for the past few days demanding permanent jobs.

According to the report of Dhaka Tribune, this incident happened on Sunday night when thousands of students started marching towards the secretariat with sticks in their hands. Actually, the members of Ansar Group had seized the secretariat. They had closed the gate of the secretariat. The government officials present inside the secretariat were not allowed to come out. Meanwhile, many students were also imprisoned inside who had appealed to hundreds of students to come to the secretariat through social media.

Why did the violent clash happen?

Sources say that several conveners of the Anti Discrimination Student Movement had asked the students to gather at the Raju Sculpture, from where these students marched towards the Secretariat. Initially, the members of the Ansar group started retreating. But later they started chasing the students with sticks. They also started throwing bricks at the students present there, which led to a violent clash between the two groups. People from both sides have been injured in this incident.

Among those detained by Ansar Group members in the Secretariat was student leader and advisor to the interim government of Bangladesh, Nahid Islam. This infuriated the students. The students tried to disperse the Ansar Group protesters. Both sides pelted stones at each other. Later, the police brought the situation under control.

Ansar Group (Home Guard) has been protesting for the last two days. This group demands that their jobs be made permanent. At the same time, the students allege that Ansar Group is working as an agent of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
