Indian female wrestler Vinesh Phogat has announced her retirement. A day earlier, she was declared disqualified from the Paris Olympics 2024 due to increased weight. Vinesh Phogat defeated Cuban wrestler Yusneylys Guzman 5-0 in the semi-finals of the women’s 50 kg freestyle event on Tuesday. Vinesh’s final match was to be held on August 7 against Ann Sarah Hildebrandt of USA.
Vinesh Phogat played three matches in the 50 kg weight category on Tuesday. She defeated Tokyo Olympic champion Yui Susaki in the pre-quarterfinals. She defeated the Ukrainian female wrestler in the quarterfinals and the Cuban wrestler in the semifinals.

But Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the Paris Olympics due to her 100 gram weight. Actually, on Wednesday, Vinesh’s weight was found to be just 100 grams more than her set category of 50 kg.
100 grams weight was heavy
When Vinesh Phogat was weighed on Tuesday morning, her weight was 49.90 kg, which was suitable for the 50 kg category. According to reports, after playing the semi-final match, she was fed food for energy, due to which her weight increased to 52.700 kg.
After this, her medical team tried to reduce Vinesh’s weight overnight. She was made to exercise all night. She did skipping and cycling all night. She also took a sauna bath. She even cut her nails. Vinesh’s weight did reduce, but despite all the efforts, her weight remained stuck at 50.100 kg.
Gagan Narang, Dinshaw Pardiwala, her husband, physio, medical staff, IOA officials, people present in India, OGQ (Olympic Gold Quest) worked overnight to reduce her weight. According to the information, Dr. Pardiwala even said that we cannot put her life in danger.
After this, when his weight was measured on Wednesday, his weight was found to be 100 grams more than required to play in the 50 kg category.
On Tuesday night, Vinesh weighed 52 kg. She tried to reduce her weight by cycling, skipping, etc., but she was unsuccessful.
