Vinesh Phogat at Paris Olympics 2024: A great news is coming for India from Paris Olympics 2024. Indian star wrestler Vinesh Phogat has created history. She has confirmed a medal by entering the final. She defeated Cuban wrestler Yusneylys Guzman 5-0 in the semi-finals of the women’s 50 kg freestyle event on Tuesday. Now Vinesh’s final will be on Wednesday (7 August).
Vinesh Phogat has also become the first Indian female wrestler to reach the final of women’s wrestling in the Olympics. She has secured a silver medal for the country. She also has a golden opportunity to win a gold medal.

This 29-year-old wrestler spent a lot of time away from the mat last year, leading a protest against former Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Singh Sharan after accusing him of sexual misconduct. But she made a splash as soon as she came to the Olympics. Vinesh is challenging in 50 kg for the first time. Earlier she used to play in 53 kg.
Vinesh had confirmed her place in the semi-finals by defeating Ukraine’s Osana Livach in the quarter-final match. She defeated the eighth seeded wrestler 7-5. While earlier in the pre-quarterfinals, she had caused a big upset by defeating top seeded Japan’s Yui Susaki 3-2.

Vinesh has won 3 gold medals in Commonwealth
Vinesh Phogat has won 3 consecutive gold medals in the Commonwealth Games. She won these gold medals in 2014 Glasgow, 2018 Gold Coast and 2022 Birmingham Games. Apart from this, Vinesh also won gold in the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games. She also won the gold medal in the Asian Championship 2021.
Apart from this, she also won 3 silver medals in the Asian Championship. Vinesh Phogat has been able to win bronze medal only twice in the World Championship so far. Now she has also secured a medal in the Olympics. Hopefully it will be gold.
