Vinesh Phogat at Paris 2024 Olympics: Star Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat performed brilliantly in the pre-quarterfinals of the Paris Olympics. She defeated the current Olympic champion and four-time world champion Yui Susaki 3-2 in the 50 kg weight category. In this match, Olympic gold medalist Yui Susaki was leading initially, but in the last 15 seconds Vinesh turned the tables. Now she has made it to the quarterfinals.
Keep in mind that before this Susaki has not faced a single defeat in her international career. Vinesh is playing her third Olympics but she is challenging in 50 kg for the first time. Earlier she used to play in 53 kg. Vinesh has won the women’s 50 kg round of 16, now she will also play in the Super-8 and semi-finals.

Vinesh, one of the famous Phogat sisters, made her Olympic debut in the women’s 48kg freestyle category at Rio 2016 but suffered a serious knee injury that forced her to withdraw from the quarterfinal. Considered a favourite to win the women’s 53kg quarterfinal at Tokyo 2020, Vinesh once again lost in the quarterfinal.
