Vinesh Phogat at Paris 2024 Olympics: Star Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has got a tough draw in the Paris Olympics, in which she will face the challenge of current Olympic champion and four-time world champion Yui Susaki in 50 kg. Susaki has not faced a single defeat in her international career so far.
It will be a tough task for Vinesh to get through the first round as she is up against the Japanese player who won the gold medal at the Tokyo Games without losing a single point.
However, this can also be good for Vinesh because Susaki is a contender to reach the final and such a situation can open the way for Vinesh to the repechage. Vinesh is playing her third Olympics but she will challenge in 50 kg for the first time. Earlier she used to play in 53 kg. If Vinesh Phogat qualifies today in the women’s 50 kg round of 16, then the Super-8 and semi-finals will also be held today. She will play her match from 3 pm.

Vinesh, one of the famous Phogat sisters, made her Olympic debut in the women’s 48kg freestyle category at Rio 2016 but suffered a serious knee injury that forced her to withdraw from the quarterfinal. Considered a favourite to win the women’s 53kg quarterfinal at Tokyo 2020, Vinesh once again lost in the quarterfinal.
