The grand opening of the 2024 Olympics in Paris took place with great pomp on Friday, but the opening ceremony has been mired in controversy. The drag queen parody of the ‘Last Supper’ at the ceremony is being sharply criticized on social media. Apart from this, many people did not like this event too much.

Questions have been raised on social media regarding the performance presented in this Olympic ceremony. In this, a drag queen version of ‘Last Supper’ was presented, which imitated the Last Supper of Jesus Christ, in which a woman was shown as Jesus wearing a crown among the drag queens, which was an exact copy of Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting ‘Last Supper’.

Netizens have reacted sharply to the performance, calling it an insult to Christians and labelling it “nonsense”. The controversy has raised questions about the dignity of the Olympic ceremony and has created a new topic of discussion on social media.

The world’s richest man and CEO of X, Elon Musk, has criticized the drag queen parody of the Last Supper at the Paris Olympic Ceremony, calling it ‘extremely vulgar’. Elon said that this performance itself is very insulting.

One social media influencer wrote on the X platform: “I am shocked. This is very negative towards athletes from many countries during the Olympic Games.”

One user said- I hate to say this, but the opening ceremony of London Olympics was much better than this. Another user said, this event is the worst, completely chaotic, disorganized and boring. No enthusiasm is seen, even robots could have done better.

Paris is hosting the Olympics for the third time; it has previously hosted the Olympics in 1900 and 1924. 117 athletes, including 47 women, will represent India in this sports mega event.
