A BJP leader has been arrested on charges of molesting a minor girl in Almora district of Uttarakhand. SSP Devendra Pincha said on Sunday that Bhagwat Singh Bora, accused of molesting a 14-year-old girl, was arrested on Saturday night. This incident took place on August 24 in Salt revenue area.
The SSP said that information was received in this regard on August 30. After this, a case was registered against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) and Section 74 (assault or use of criminal force on a woman) of the BNS. The medical test of the victim has also been done.
Meanwhile, taking cognizance of the incident, on the instructions of BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt, the party’s Salt area block unit chief Bhagwat Singh Bora was expelled with immediate effect. Attacking the ruling BJP on this matter, state Congress president Karan Mahara has made serious allegations.
He said that the BJP government has given license to its leaders in the matter of atrocities on women. State BJP President Bhatt has termed this incident as very unfortunate. He said that the Pushkar Dhami government of the state is working on the policy of zero tolerance towards crimes against women.
He said, “In this case, whether the accused is small or big, influential or associated with any political party, our government is taking strict action. As far as the organization is concerned, the leader involved in this incident has been dismissed from all posts with immediate effect. He has been shown the way out of the party.”
