US Open Men Singles Final: World number-1 Jannik Sinner creates history… breaks Taylor Fritz’s dream by winning US Open

Jannik Sinner vs. Taylor Fritz, US Open Men’s Singles Final: Jannik Sinner of Italy has created history in this year’s last Grand Slam US Open 2024. World number-1 Sinner has become the first male tennis player from Italy to win the US Open. He defeated 26-year-old Taylor Fritz of America 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 in the final match. This match between the two lasted for 2 hours and 16 minutes.

23-year-old Sinner has become the second Italian tennis star to win the overall US Open. Earlier this feat was achieved by Flavia Pennetta. She defeated Roberta Vinci in the women’s singles final of the US Open in 2015.

Sinner won his second Grand Slam title

With this defeat, the dream of world number 12 Taylor Fritz has been shattered. Actually, Taylor, who has been playing Grand Slam since 2016, reached the final for the first time. He had a golden opportunity to win his first Grand Slam title, but it could not happen. If he had won the final, he would have become the first American male tennis star to win the US Open after 2003. But it could not happen.

On the other hand, this is the second Grand Slam title of Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner. He won the first title this year i.e. Australian Open 2024. In the final of this Grand Slam, Sinner defeated Russia’s Daniil Medvedev 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3.

Taylor was defeated in a one-sided fashion in straight sets

Sinner dominated from the beginning in this final match of the US Open. He easily won the first set by a margin of 6-3. But in the second set, Taylor tried to make a comeback but failed. Sinner won the second set also by 6-4.

After this, it was expected that the American tennis star would show some strength in the third set, but here too the fans were disappointed. Like the first two sets, Sinner showed a strong game and won the title by winning the third set 7-5.
