A woman from Siddharthnagar district of UP has accused private ambulance workers of molestation and indecency. The woman says that she was returning from Lucknow in an ambulance with her sick husband. During this time, she was molested on the way. The driver and his assistant were involved in this. When she protested, she, her husband and brother were forcibly dropped on the side of the highway in the cantonment area of Basti. Also, money, mobile etc. were snatched. After which the victim woman called on dial 112 and told the whole story to the police. But then there was no special hearing. However, after the matter escalated, an FIR has now been registered in Ghazipur police station of Lucknow. Because, the ambulance was from Lucknow. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has also reacted to the matter.
Actually, the whole matter is of 28th August when a woman from a village in Sakarpar police station area of Siddharthnagar district had come to Basti hospital to get her ailing husband treated. Seeing his condition worsening, she took her husband Harish Sahni to Lucknow Medical College. But he could not be admitted there due to non-availability of beds. Out of helplessness, she took her husband to a private hospital in Lucknow and got him admitted.
Ambulance workers accused of molestation and indecency
Here the hospital charges more than one lakh rupees in just 2 days of treatment. Seeing that the money is running out, she asks the doctors to discharge her husband. Meanwhile, she gets the number of a private ambulance worker from the hospital counter. She takes her sick husband home (Siddharthanagar) in this ambulance. This is where the incident that shames humanity begins.
The ambulance driver tells the wife and her brother sitting behind the sick husband to make the woman sit in the front seat so that the police do not harass them at night. Because the ambulance is private, there can be a problem with papers etc. on the way. If the woman sits in the front seat, the police will also not say anything. Hearing this, the helpless woman sits in the front. During this time, she is molested on the way. Her screams do not reach the brother of the woman sitting in the back because the mirror of the ambulance is closed.
Dropped the sick person mid-way
Finally the woman starts banging on the door. Then the ambulance workers stop the vehicle on the side of the highway in Basti district’s cantonment and take the woman, her brother and her sick husband off the vehicle and run away. They also snatched the woman’s bag, hospital papers and phone. After which the woman’s brother called 112 from his phone and asked for help from the police.
The police reached the spot and took him to Basti district hospital in a government ambulance. From where the doctors referred him to Gorakhpur Medical College. Here, after a few hours of treatment, the woman’s husband died. It is alleged that when the victim woman reached Basti district’s cantonment police station to complain about the molestation, she was asked to register a report in Lucknow. After which the victim registered a case in Lucknow’s Ghazipur police station. The victim has demanded action against the ambulance personnel.
Statement of Basti SP
Basti SP Gopal Chaudhary’s statement has come out on this entire incident. The SP said that the woman has accused the private ambulance drivers of indecency. On the night of 29 August, Anoop Sahni was coming from Lucknow to Siddharthnagar with his sister and brother-in-law. The brother-in-law was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Lucknow. When the ambulance reached the cantonment police station area of the district, some dispute took place, after which the ambulance driver dropped everyone. On receiving the information, the police reached and admitted the sick to the hospital. At that time, the victim’s side did not mention anything about indecency. However, now the allegations are being investigated.
Akhilesh reacted
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has reacted to the matter. He wrote on ‘X’ – “Such an incident that even words would be ashamed of. Condemnable beyond the limits of words. Is there any government in UP?”
