UP: Troubled by molestation, BA student stopped going to college, accused arrested

In Banda, Uttar Pradesh, a girl stopped going to college due to harassment. The girl’s brother reached the local police station and lodged a complaint against the named accused Irfan. The victim’s brother told the police that the accused has been harassing his sister for a long time and is threatening her for forced marriage. Fearing this, his sister stopped going to college.

As soon as the complaint was received, the police registered a case under serious sections and started investigation. SHO Pankaj Kumar Singh said that the accused has been arrested and interrogation has been started. Strict action is being taken against him. The victim is a BA final year student and a young man named Irfan used to tease the student every day while going to and coming from college. Many times the accused also held the student’s hand in the middle of the road.

The victim’s family says that when they complained about this to the accused’s family, they threatened them and said that we will get your sister married to our son. The victim is very scared after the incident and is demanding the police to take strict action against the accused.

The police registered a case against the accused and arrested him

On this matter, SHO Kotwali Nagar Pankaj Kumar Singh said that the matter is under cognizance. FIR was registered as soon as the complaint was received. The accused youth has also been arrested and he is being questioned. Further legal action is being taken by registering the girl’s 164 statement in the court.
