With the recent performance of Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh in the Lok Sabha elections, SP is confident of repeating its victory in the by-elections. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav is eyeing to expand the party in other states. According to sources, before the Maharashtra assembly elections, SP is trying to get 10-12 seats from Mahavikas Aghadi. This offer of SP is also being linked to the seat sharing formula of SP-Congress in the UP by-elections.

SP is looking for possibilities in Haryana, Maharashtra
While Congress is eyeing the seats in UP by-elections, Akhilesh Yadav is also looking at possibilities for SP in Haryana and Maharashtra. SP wants to adopt the formula of ‘give with one hand, take with one hand’ with Congress regarding seat sharing. That is, now the real test of the alliance will be seen in these by-elections, where the distribution of seats will be decided on the basis of mutual exchange.

SP may ask for 10-12 seats from Congress in Maharashtra
According to sources, SP has staked claim on seats with strong hold in Maharashtra assembly elections. SP can demand 10-12 seats from Congress in Maharashtra, while the party is also eyeing 5 seats in Haryana. In return, Congress can get two assembly seats in UP by-elections. Election dates have been announced in Haryana while elections in Maharashtra can be held after this.

Now speculations are being made that along with these, elections can also be held on 10 assembly seats of UP. According to sources, if Congress agrees to the seat sharing formula of SP in Maharashtra and Haryana, then SP can consider giving Ghaziabad and Mirzapur’s Majhwa seats to Congress in the by-election.

Talking to India Today, SP national spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said that our coordination with Congress is very good and the seats for the by-elections will also be divided. He said that SP is thinking of expanding in Maharashtra and Haryana, we hope that we will get satisfactory numbers in exchange for the UP by-election seats with the Congress party.
