Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President JP Nadda chaired the party’s state working committee meeting in Lucknow on Sunday. This was the first state working committee meeting after the BJP’s poor performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh. According to the BJP spokesperson, the meeting was held in a closed room. In the meeting, the party leaders put their views before the national president and the state leadership of the party. About 3000-3600 representatives from across the state participated in the meeting held in the auditorium of Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University. Along with the party’s current MLAs and MPs, all the Lok Sabha candidates who lost the elections were also invited to the meeting. Apart from this, MLCs, District Panchayat Presidents, Municipal Council Presidents, District Presidents and all the party officials attended the meeting. State BJP spokesperson Hero Bajpai said that usually 300 to 400 representatives attend the BJP’s state working committee meeting. But this time about 3000-3600 representatives attended the meeting.

BJP had won 33 out of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh

After winning only 33 out of 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state, the BJP had formed 40 teams of two members each to visit 78 Lok Sabha constituencies to find out the reasons for the party’s poor performance. The teams had submitted their report to state BJP president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary. These issues were raised in the state working committee meeting of BJP president Nadda on Sunday.

Earlier, BJP National General Secretary (Organization) BL Santosh was in the state capital on a two-day visit on July 6-7. BL Santosh met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak and regional heads of the party. During this, he discussed many issues including the party’s performance in the state in the Lok Sabha elections and the by-elections to 10 assembly seats to be held later this year. Meanwhile, on Saturday, Badalpur BJP MLA Ramesh Mishra sparked a controversy by saying that if Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is not removed from the post, the BJP will lose the 2027 Uttar Pradesh elections.
