‘Uncle gets fooled every time’, when CM Yogi took a dig at Akhilesh-Shivpal in the assembly

In the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath fiercely targeted the Samajwadi Party. After being made the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, Mata Prasad Pandey had asked CM Yogi a question about crimes against women, on which CM Yogi first congratulated him. He also took a dig at Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Yadav and said that uncle gets fooled every time.

In response to the question of the Leader of Opposition, CM Yogi said, “The issues of women and child safety are not only external, but both inside and outside the house. If we compare the efforts made by the government to stop this, then there has been a 17.5% reduction in dowry incidents in 23-24 as compared to 2016. There has been a 25.30% reduction in rape from 2016-17 to 2023-24.

Between 2017 and 2024, the government’s efforts to speed up prosecution in cases of sexual assault on women and minor children have shown results. The culprits have been punished in 24,402 cases. From 2017 to 2024, punishment has been given in 9,875 cases under the POCSO Act.

Between 2022 and 2024, 16,718 convicts were convicted in POCSO crimes against women. Of these, 21 were awarded death penalty, 1713 life imprisonment, 4653 were sentenced to 10 years or more imprisonment, 10,331 were sentenced to less than 10 years imprisonment. In other efforts made in this direction in the state, we have activated the portal of Investigation Tracking System since 2018 itself. Focus monitoring is done in this. Years of pendency in crimes related to women was completed. Today, Uttar Pradesh is the third state in the country in getting punishment to criminals in crimes against women.
