A former Ukrainian diplomat has dismissed the notion that Kursk is retaliation for Ukraine’s incursion.
Oleksandr Sherba, who previously served as Ukraine’s ambassador to Austria, told DW that there was no justification for Russia’s strike on Poltava.
“You know, wherever someone says something like that, I’m speechless because Ukraine has been invaded, killed, raped, tortured, beheaded, castrated for two and a half years. is And now, in the third year of this war, we have finally brought the war into Russian territory. And suddenly, Westerners say, well, this is revenge for what you did, for what we did,” he said.
Sherba said the Poltava attack on a Ukrainian hospital is an example of how Moscow has free reign to attack anywhere it wants inside Ukraine, while Kiev is constrained by Western conditions regarding the use of Western weapons in attacks deep inside Russia.
“But, after all, we cannot fight this war with one of our hands tied behind our backs. We have to strike their airfields,” he added.
“We have to attack their military base. It can’t go on like this. It’s just crazy. Crazy that Russia can get anywhere it wants. And we can fire only within five 50 km radius of our border.
