UGC brings ‘on the job training’ opportunity for students, register like this

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has come up with a special training program to increase employment opportunities among the youth. UGC has launched the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS 2.0) for students. Under this scheme, students will be taught in class as well as working. To avail the benefits of this scheme, candidates will have to register themselves by visiting the portal nats.education.gov.in.

Training will be provided along with the job

Through apprenticeship training, one gets to learn the skills and knowledge required in a new career field. Students are also paid during this training. Its main purpose is to help students gain expertise in a particular field so that they can get a good job in the future.

Under this training scheme, ‘on-job training’ (OJT) based skill opportunities are given to bachelors, diploma holders and professional certificate holders for 6 months to one year. Candidates will be helped in finding apprenticeship opportunities through the NTS 2.0 portal.

Stipend will be available through DBT

This portal will not only help in finding such employers but will also provide a comprehensive solution for all activities related to apprenticeship. This includes registration, application, vacancy notification, contract creation, certification, and stipend. The stipend will be as per the rules and will be given through direct benefit transfer through the portal.

The official statement said, “The NATS portal will provide valuable data insights on placements and industry trends and provide recognised certification for completed apprenticeships, bridging the skills gap and ensuring that students are job-ready.”

What does NATS mean?

National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) is a government scheme to enable Indian youth to acquire trade skills. The scheme was introduced under the Apprentices Act, 1961, as amended in 1973.
