Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Calais Campbell said he was also detained by police on Sunday morning, according to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington.

Campbell tried to defuse the situation with teammate Tyreek Hill and Miami-Dade police officers.

Campbell saw Hill in handcuffs with what he labeled “excessive force.” Officers then proceeded to place Campbell in handcuffs as a result of disobeying a direct order.

As a result of the incidents, the Miami-Dade Police Department placed an unidentified officer on leave.

Miami-Dade Police Department Director Stephanie V. “Following the incident involving Tyreek Hill, I have initiated an internal affairs investigation to ensure a thorough review of this matter,” Daniels said. “An officer involved in the incident has been placed on administrative duties while an investigation is conducted. I am committed to transparency and accountability to the community in any situation involving my officers.”

Hill played in the Dolphins’ season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He scored an 80-yard touchdown to help Miami win 20-17 on Sunday.
