Tyreek Hill says he’s ‘still shell-shocked’ after police arrest

Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill says he is “still shell-shocked” and “embarrassed” following a controversial police arrest just hours before the team’s season opener Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In an interview with CNNKeelan Collins of sourceHill described the traffic stop, expressing his lingering shock and confusion.

“I wasn’t really into that kind of energy. Like, I was chilling. I followed the rules. I wasn’t going fast because, you know, I had injuries. do you feel me I’ve got things that I’m going through … I’m doing this for now, man. So I deal with some stuff. I’m still very shocked by it,” Hill told Collins, who was accompanied by his attorney, Julius Collins.

In a detention near Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, Hill was briefly handcuffed by Miami-Dade police for what the Dolphins later described as a “traffic incident”. Video footage circulating on social media showed Hill slumped to the ground as officials restrained him, prompting immediate concern among fans and teammates.

Hill continued, “So I guess the officials, they thought I wasn’t doing it on their time but … I was doing it. That, you know, man, I’m still in shock from that. And I’m ashamed.”

Despite the pregame concussion, Hill was released in time to join his teammates for the season opener. The Dolphins eventually prevailed over the Jaguars 20–17, with Hill playing a key role in the conference victory.

Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus commented CBSPolice described the stop as “unrealistic” and “shocking”. Rosenhaus indicated plans to investigate police conduct but refrained from making specific allegations.

In 2014, Hill pleaded guilty to domestic assault charges involving his then-pregnant girlfriend. In 2019, he was investigated by Kansas City police regarding a battery incident involving his son, although he did not face discipline for that case.

as one NFLOf top receivers, Hill’s performance is critical to the Dolphins’ success. Now in his third season with Miami, Hill’s focus appears to be on getting past police detention and continuing his on-field performance.
